It was first showcased in 2008 Auto Expo, this was expected to change the way of motoring in India as this was mainly focused to the middle class families those who can't afford a many lakhs car.  The idea to launch Nano is by Tata's ex-chairperson Mr. Ratan Tata , which was inspired from a family of 4, riding a motorcycle in traffic.
