Comparison between KTM Duke 390 vs BAJAJ Dominar 400

As you all know the big-street bikes that are famous for their Power, Torque & the most Looks, they'r KTM Duke 390 & Bajaj's flagship bike, Dominar 400.

                                             DUKE 390                                      DOMINAR 400

Both the bikes are powered by a single cylinder 373.3 CC, Liquid Cooled & Fuel Injected engine in which the Dominar uses Bajaj's tried & tested Triple-spark technology engine. As both the engines are powerful in paper but in reality Duke gains pace faster than Dominar as it is lighter by 40 Kgs.

♛ POWER : Duke outputs power of 43 bhp & 37 Nm of Torque which means it'll gain pace more faster & the speed will be enough to catch the Dominar, as Dominar outputs 34.50 bhp & 35 Nm of Torque.

♛ WEIGHT : In this point the Dominar weighs 40 Kgs more than the Duke, because of its chunky muscular look. As Duke has a clean & lovable look due to it's naked Trelis frame design, helps in making a lighter bike with better Power to Weight Ratio.

♛ MILEAGE : What do you think, who is the winner in this point? Yes, you guessed it right, Duke has a 37 Kmpl mileage whereas Dominar has only 27 Kmpl out in highway. Both the bikes have a 13 L fuel tank which is quiet enough to do highway touring.

♛ COMFORT : As Duke 390 has a more aggressive seating posture than Dominar 400, so in the matter of comfort, the clear winner is the Bajaj Dominar 400. Dominar has a more upright seating position & also has wide seat with not too soft & not too hard cushiony seat, which will provide you more comfort while riding for long highway trips.

SUSPENSION :  The Dominar 400 has slightly a stiffer suspension to maintain a balance between power & control of the bike, which on bad roads some vibes slightly intrudes to handle & seat.
Whereas, Duke 390 has a WP Suspension both at the front & rear, which is quiet famous for making good suspension, you can search it on the internet. The suspension is not too stiff not too soft.

BRAKE : KTM's Duke 390 provides ABS braking as standard while the Dominar 400 has 2 models, with ABS & without ABS. I'll prefer to have a ABS one as it'll provide good stopping power without locking your tires. If you opt for a non-ABS you may end up locking your wheels & you may spoil your body-parts!

                   Dominar 400
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER : The instrument cluster in Dominar 400 gives almost all information such as Twin Trip meters, Lap timer, Coolant Temperature indicator, Time & Outside Temperature but in a very clinched manner as the cluster is too small for a big-bike.

 Duke 390
But Duke 390 has recently upgraded it's instrument cluster to a TFT Display which is colorful & also provides all the mentioned information. It also changes it's background color as per day & night.

But Duke has a more sporty appeal.

RPM Meter changes it's color as per you rev, it's  a  cool  thing that every rider wants!

These were some of the comparison points that I took of, & now comes the value of these big-street bikes.

PRICE : Bajaj's flag-ship bike is priced around 1.76 Lakh (ABS Variant) & 1.60 Lakh (Non-ABS Variant) whereas the Duke 390 is priced 1 Lakh higher as ABS Standard Variant clocked at 2.50 Lakhs

Clearly, If you'r searching for a big-bike highway touring in your budget the bike would be Bajaj Dominar 400 which is for sure value for money. And If you'r looking for a good-looking wild bike then Duke 390 is the most suitable bike for you.

Please do a test-ride of the bike then choose, this'll give you a clear overview over these two.

Although this is my comparison blog about two of the famous bikes in India. If
