Mahindra Marazzo
Hello & Welcome to Carwahi.
Mahindra & Mahindra had finally launched their long awaited MPV "Marazzo" (Codename: U321) & Mahindra loves to design their vehicles from animal inspired theme as XUV 500 is inspired from the Cheetah inspired design & this time they've made the MPV in the design name of Shark. This MPV is competing with the Toyota's & India's first MPV that's the Innova & Maruti Ertiga, which recently got a facelift update.
The brand new 1.5 L 4-cylinder Diesel engine peaks out power of 121 bhp & 350 Nm of torque paired with the front-wheel drive fitted in Ladder-frame chassis, which is the first in the segment of a MPV. There are a total of 4 versions of the car naming M2(base), M4, M6 & M8(top-trim). A good news for the Petrol customers as Mahindra is planning to launch new Petrol engine around 2020 & which is said to be compiling with the BS-VI emission norms.
Talking about the Front look, the front grille has been designed from "Shark" with the Mahindra logo at the centre of the grille, a big clapping for the design team for to work so specifically. DRL's & LED headlamps are also introduced for the better view of the road ahead, it could've been more powerful. A Chrome lining is also provided at the middle of the front bumper to make it not look too big.
Looking to the Side, the 17-inch wheel looks perfect compared to the size of the car for the superb grip & control fitted with the all new diamond-cut alloys. There's also a "Shark" like fins made on the front doors for the aerodynamic efficiency & better looks as well. The only down side of the Marazzo is the sloping glass-area of the D-Pillar as it looks too big around the fuel refilling area, could Mahindra have given it a plain looks then it must have worked out more.
The 7-seater has a nice Interior too with the Black & Beige treatment makes the cabin feels less claustrophobic. The dashboard looks too good with Piano-black touches around the infotainment system but the Instrument Cluster is too simple considering the class of the vehicle. Many things have been brought froward from the previous models like the infotainment system, the vehicle information system & the switches all-around. The leather seats feels much comfortable as the Leg-room, Under-thigh support, Lumber support & also Head Room is adequate for a 5.5-feet tall person.
Driving the "Shark" I'm confused that is it a diesel or petrol? As it's so silent inside the cab, you probably have to look to the tachometer to confirm whether the engine is On/Off. The clutch is on the lighter side which generally is not in case of diesel car & the gear throws are slightly long as you've to literally stretch your hands to push/pull the gear lever. Mahindra very awkwardly designed the hand-brake as it blocks the way to storage below it.
Now, about the Practicality of the vehicle, there'r a lot of storage spaces all around with the A/C vents on the roof-top for the convenience of rear passengers. The rear door pockets can contain 1-liter bottles but is placed in an awkward position as it is difficult to access the area. It also has a cooled glove-box which is kind of cool thing in now-a-days as it is very necessary specially in the summer season.
Now, comes the Features list of the Marazzo, with the 40:20:40 rear seat split increases the storage space. With the gizmo's like the 7" touch infotainment system with the Mahindra's own Navigation system & Android Auto but unfortunately no Apple Car Play, Cruise Control for the convenience to drive in highways, rear parking sensors with reverse camera & also hell lot of features which makes the car somewhat unique with the rivals.
I'm mentioning the price list of various models of Marazzo below:
